Suzy Quilts! Check it out!

Hey Hey! It's been a loooong time. I'm writing this post to let you know that concerning all things quilting I will be using my blog through suzyquilts.com. You can check it out at suzyquilts.com/blog.

But, because this started out as a blog to promote my graphic design, I thought that I would post here the Suzy Quilts logo that did not make the cut.

Summer Flowers Quilt

A little pink quilt for a little girl named Annabelle.

Disclaimer: If you receive a quilt from me, please be informed that my dog probably sat on it. She is clean-ish.

Sunshine Quilt

This quilt has become my King Kong. My Moby Dick. My Mt. Everest. My Sears Tower (As an adopted Chicagoan it will always be the Sears Tower to me). Basically, it's the most ginormous quilt I've ever made. This king sized quilt is loosely based on an Amy Butler quilt pattern. I started collecting fabrics for it in May and now that September is coming to a close, so is this project. Phew! I think it will be a while before I tackle another quilt of its magnitude.

Front.

Scrappy kept jumping on the quilt during the photo shoot.

Back.

She's going to be sad to see it go.

Stacey's Christmas Quilt

My sister-in-law, Stacey, has been in the family just shy of two years. So according to my calculations, she deserves a quilt! I think my favorite fabric that made the quilt cut was Michele D'Amore's olive dots (the backing). No, no I take that back....make that Joel Dewberry's Modern Meadow...ahhhh now that a third fabric is coming to mind (Dogwood Voile by Denyse Schmidt) I better stop and just admit that I can't decide. The joy of quilting - I can use them all! When else can I have my cake and eat it too?!

Michigan Christmas Quilt

I gave this to my future mother-in-law Christmas morning. I had so much fun putting these fabrics together I got a little sad giving it away...

There was more to my Michigan Christmas than presents. Here, I was introduced to snowshoes.

I'm a bit like a duck, no?

My handsome beau. After teaching me to cross country ski, these snowshoes were cake. With every visit to the Great Lake state, I fall a bit more in love.

Repro Quilt finally finished

Do you remember a reproduction fabric post I made almost A YEAR ago? Well guess who learned how to finish a project. Aside from a couple hand-dyed fabrics and some run-of-the-mill white muslin, these are all 30s reproduction prints. If fabric history has any appeal to you (I'm speaking to about .5% of the population right now) here is a nice little article on fabric during that era.

Notice the quilt pattern - quilting notions! scissors, thimbles, needles, thread...how wonderful, yes? OH! and I got a little adventurous with my backing. Rather than my normal straight yardage, I mimiced the piano key border and ran a strip through the middle.

Please ignore the unfinished edges. I still have binding to do, but just couldn't wait to finish that before posting.

1930s Vintage

And what did I do this weekend you ask? I could probably sum it up in a single sentence...listened to Laura Veirs and watched my social life slowly slip by. I suppose that is what happens when one is a bit obsessive compulsive and a new project has begun. But look at those fabrics? How could I leave my sewing room when I have such glorious prints surrounding me? I'm contemplating finishing this and throwing it up on Etsy to see if I get any takers. Oh, which means I first need to START an Etsy account, THEN step two would be selling my wares. Any takers?
