Batik Beauty

Yes, I have already come to terms with my age. Although I may appear 24, I am really 65. When I was 15 I turned 56 and my one hope is to make it to the ripe age of 41...or is it 82? Anyway, I quilt. Guilty pleasure, call it what you like, I adore everything about it. Even the hours of time alone it usually requires to finish one of these badboys.

This in-process quilt consists of some hand-dyed fabrics, some store-purchased batiks, and a few classic favorites from my stash. Stay tuned for the finished product...

more Shoes

Pair number two in my shoes series. Have a cool pair of shoes? Let me paint them! I'll give 'em right back : ) I don't know how many pairs will be portrayed in this series. It all probably hinges on two things (1) my attention span and (2) cash flow. Concerning the second reason, if you are interested in purchasing anything you see on this blog or in commissioning something personal, just email me! I'd love to hear your comments and ideas.

quilt top

I just finished this little quilt top for a baby girl due in March. I made a similar quilt for her older sister, but sadly never snapped a photo.

Why does calligraphy make everything better? Why also is Jessica Hische pretty much the coolest typographer around? Her blog the Daily Drop Cap has become a daily staple of mine.

Something Old

Since I have slowed down a little on my sketching I thought I would post something I designed a few months ago. This is a postcard invite for the wedding shower I threw (with much help from others) for my sister-in-law. I illustrated Aaron and Stacey flying in a plane because sadly they live across the country and have to buy plane tickets anytime they visit :(

Save the Date

I just received this Save the Date in the mail from my little cousin Betsy. I designed these a few weeks ago and am quite pleased with how they turned out.

just call me "Teach"

The reason I haven't posted in almost a week might have something to do with that cute smile full of braces [this is where I insert a picture of a 7th grade girl smiling while holding up a monster she just drew. I was about to upload a picture of it when I realized that might be slightly illegal now]. I have become a 7th - 12th grade art teacher for officially TWO days. Since technically I cannot show what we did today, I will share the website which inspired my 7th grade inky monsters....scary doesn't describe it. The Daily Monster.

So far so good. But who's to say? Onward ho to day THREE!
