pretty little pink invitation. Just the perfect color for a June wedding. Emily's main color is blush pink with accents of poppy, sage, mint and burlap (is that a color? well, the color of burlap). She is possibly the most laid back bride I've ever worked with. She very much spoiled me. I'm sure with that attitude she will have a beautiful and enjoyable wedding day. Congrats, Emily!Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Sparketing
About a month ago my husband, John, took the huge (and maybe a bit scary) leap into becoming his own boss. He quit his job and along with an old co-worker he started his own research firm. For those of you who know John it's hard to believe that statistics and research would become two defining adjective. However, he continues to surprise us all - including myself.
Well, with a graphic designer for a wife, I told him that before they made a single spread sheet or pie chart or whatever database they're rigging up, they needed a logo. Here's my contribution to Sparketing - Ignite You're Marketing!
pssst..the last one is the final.

Happy Little Limes
he sun is shining and somewhere in the world limes are growing. Most definitely not here in Chicago. It looks like the high today is somewhere between "my breath just froze in my mouth" and....dead. With the official record sitting at 9ยบ. With that kind of weather, one has to get creative with their Vitamin C.Tuesday, November 13, 2012
R&R Watercolor
After wrapping up an all consuming project (more on that later) I needed something to center me again. Something that didn't include an entire bag of Dove chocolates (prob cause I ate em all) OR a Jillian Michaels scream fest OMG-How-Did-I-Get-This-Out-Of-Shape guilt trip spiral. Something so cathartic that I might actually feel a little zzzzzen...
Two things: being still. and water. (Ick, I'm rolling my eyes at the Buddhist-mass-appeal/horrible irony of someone like me trying to state something like that)
Let me start over. I set up some junk lying around my house and then I painted it. Afterwards, I felt pretty good.

I can't resist a photo op for Scraps. And she loves her new painting. So much that she takes naps on it.

E+S Wedding Invitation
Invitations for a very classy New Year's wedding.
It's hard to tell by my horrible photos, but these invites use beautiful textured creams and shimmer papers. I also lined all 165 of the envelopes in glittery gold paper, so when you open it up...POW! It's a party! Once you break the black satin ribbon seal, the invite folds open and a side flap contains the RSVP Card and envelope, Reception Invitation and Accommodations Card.

Sunshine Quilt
This quilt has become my King Kong. My Moby Dick. My Mt. Everest. My Sears Tower (As an adopted Chicagoan it will always be the Sears Tower to me). Basically, it's the most ginormous quilt I've ever made. This king sized quilt is loosely based on an Amy Butler quilt pattern. I started collecting fabrics for it in May and now that September is coming to a close, so is this project. Phew! I think it will be a while before I tackle another quilt of its magnitude.
Front.
Scrappy kept jumping on the quilt during the photo shoot.
Back.
She's going to be sad to see it go.
